When anyone asks me what’s my favorite place I’ve ever traveled to, the answer is easy: Cuba. And when they ask why, I simply say – the people.
I’ve never met more loving, generous, hopeful and beautiful people in my life.
I visited Cuba in January 2020, right before the global pandemic. Havana felt alive and hopeful despite the new sanctions that President 45 had on the country. Cruise ships had recently stopped docking there and there was an uneasiness about the future in country.
I spent 4 wonderful days exploring the country with a friend and meeting the most amazing locals. We went club hopping with a group of young professionals. We saw an art event that rivaled any of the shi-shi events I’ve attended in New York City. We devoured authentic Cuban cuisine and laid on one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen.

Right now, Cuba is in crisis.
The country is facing its worst economic crisis in decades. The country had a total island blackout and without access to gas will certainly face an even harder future.
There are a lot of places I’ve visited that I would love to return to: Amlafi Coast, Greece, Turks and Caicos. But no other place truly has my heart like Cuba.
